Melee'' was reviewed by a guest reviewer, Jon Cook.<ref>https://christiananswers.net/spotlight/games/2002/supersmashbrothersmelee.html</ref> In his verdict, Cook said that ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'' had little offensive content despite having a T rating. He recommended it to Nintendo fans and as a more family-friendly alternative to ''[[Mortal Kombat]]''. However, Cook did mention that several fighters use magical or psychic moves, but that it is otherwise not problematic.
