Tektite
Tektites are recurring enemies in The Legend of Zelda series, first appearing in the Nintendo Entertainment System of the same name. They are one-eyed, spider-like creatures with a hard exoskeleton and long legs. In most appearances, Tektites have four legs. The main ability that Tektites have is bouncing around on their legs, at varying distances and speeds.

Main series appearances
The Legend of Zelda
Tektites in The Legend of Zelda appear in blue and orange varieties. The orange Tektites jump around more than their blue counterparts, although they are weaker than them. Blue Tektites are stronger but have slower movements. Both types of Tektites can jump around anywhere on the world map. Link often encounters several Tektites at once.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
In Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, only blue Tektites appear, and they can perform high vertical jumps. Unlike their other appearances, Tektites can spit fire and have six legs instead of four. Tektites are very strong, and are vulnerable only to Fire and Thunder magic. In the original Family Computer Disk System version, Tektites can also be defeated from a sword attack.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Red and blue Tektites appear in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, similarly to the first game, and both types are encountered on Death Mountain. This is also the first appearance of the Water Tektite variant. Unlike before, the red Tektites are stronger than their blue counterparts. Tektites are usually jump around aimlessly. If Link tries to hit a Tektite, it jumps backwards to dodge him. If they hit a wall while jumping they'll come bouncing back.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
In The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, both regular and water Tektites make an appearance. Tektites are four-legged, although their sprite depicts them as appearing to have only two legs, but this is because the sprite is always seen from a front view. LA only has one kind of regular Tektite, since the game is in grayscale.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Similar to some earlier The Legend of Zelda titles, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time features Tektites in red and blue varieties. Red Tektites are found only at the Death Mountain Trail. Blue Tektites appear at Zora's River, where they can jump on water and on land, and their difference from Water Tektites is that they cannot skim across water. Red and blue Tektites cannot jump as high as in the 2D games. These Tektites also have a smaller, red eye. Unlike before, Tektites remain still until Link approaches them, then they jump slowly toward him, until he is out of range. This is the first game where Tektites make noise when defeated.
If Link uses the Megaton Hammer, he can flip a Tektite on its back.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, only blue Tektites appear, and they are based on their appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Tektites appear mostly near in Snowhead, but there are two more in a room of the Great Temple Bay. A Tektite can now be flipped on its back using Ground Pound as Goron Link.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Aces
Tektites in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages are based on their appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, using the sprite design, except they are now featured in the same blue and orange varieties from The Legend of Zelda. Blue Tektites now have the better jumping ability than their orange counterparts.
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
In The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, both red and blue Tektites appear as enemies, but there is now also the faster-moving Golden Tektites.
