Animal Crossing: New Horizons (shortened to ACNH and NH) is a simulation game released on the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020. It is the fifth main entry of the Animal Crossing series (sixth in Japan).

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was very successful. It is one of the best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch, having sold over 47 million copies,[1] and falls behind only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Animal Crossing: New Horizons released around the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic and helped several gamers through that era.[2]

Gameplay

As is typical of an Animal Crossing game, the player can meet and interact with villagers. They can catch Fish Bugs, as well as sea creatures. The player can design their home, though larger renovations to it become more expensive. The player can also design clothing, tools, and furniture. They can also earn some Poki, Bells, and Nook Miles.

Uniquely, Animal Crossing: New Horizons features islands, and the player can customize their own. They can also visit friends' islands or send visitors to their own island.

There is also a Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Happy Home Paradise, where the player can design villager homes, the café, the restaurant, the school, and a shop.
