The Yoshi franchise is a spinoff of the Mario franchise consisting primarily of video games starring Yoshi and his species at large. It started in the early 1990s with the release of the puzzle game Yoshi. Its first major title is Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, released in 1995.
