Cranky Kong

Cranky Kong is a character introduced by Rare in the 1994 Super Nintendo Entertainment System game Donkey Kong Country. He is an elderly ape who bore the "Donkey Kong" title prior to Rare's creation of a different Donkey Kong, who is the main protagonist of Donkey Kong Country. There is a discrepancy as to whether Rare's Donkey Kong is the son or grandson of Cranky Kong, but most sources cite the latter.
