Shine Sprite
Shine Sprites are the main collectible item in Super Mario Sunshine. They are the source of bright sunlight on Isle Delfino. When Shadow Mario polluted the Shine Monument with a black goop substance, the Shine Sprites fled, which resulted in Delfino Plaza, the island's de-facto capital, being covered in a thin layer of darkness. Mario has to collect Shine Sprites along the way, and as he does, brightness gradually returns to the area. There are a total of 120 Shine Sprites in the game, and they are the equivalent to the Power Stars in Super Mario 64.
