Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is the second game of The Legend of Zelda series, following after the first The Legend of Zelda. Like its predecessor, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was released for the Family Computer Disk System in Japan and for the Nintendo Entertainment System in other countries. For Japan, the game was released in 1987, but in western countries it was released in 1988.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is considered to be a departure from most two-dimensional The Legend of Zelda games in that it favors platforming-style gameplay over action-adventure, but still features some overworld exploration. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, there is a stage named Temple that is inspired by those explored in the game.

The plot involves Link having to awaken Princess Zelda (a different one than in the first game), who had been put into a deep slumber by a magician.
